About Colby
Colby Bleicher is a Denver-based theatre director originally from Anchorage, Alaska. She trained at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, studying acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute and directing at Playwrights Horizons Theater School.
In Anchorage, Colby co-founded and co-operated Blue Chair Productions, a critically acclaimed company known for presenting bold and challenging contemporary plays. She directed for Blue Chair, TBA Theatre, Cyrano’s Theatre Company, Anchorage Community Theatre, and others. For over a decade, Colby has directed staged readings of new works in development at the Valdez Theatre Conference. Since relocating to Denver, Colby has worked as an assistant director with And Toto too Theatre Company, Benchmark Theatre, Vintage Theatre, and Town Hall Arts Center.
With over 13 years of directing experience, Colby is committed to rigorous engagement with texts, authentic and expansive casting choices, and fostering collaborative environments. She believes in rehearsal processes that are efficient, transparent, and safe, where every team member—from actors to technicians to intimacy coordinators to designers—is integral to the project’s success. Her goal is always to create theatrical experiences that resonate powerfully with audiences long after the house lights come up.
